I worked as a journalist and photographer for four years at The Daily Herald in Provo, UT before going back to school to get an MBA. I also worked at The Daily Universe at BYU before starting full time a the Herald. Click here to see some of my favorites from my career. I'll be updating more regularly now so check back often to see what's new.

Some photographers say they could never do weddings, others can't get enough of them. I enjoy them. They are extremely challenging because you are under tremendous pressure to produce high quality, original work. If you don't deliver, you're in trouble. Here are some of my favorites from the last few years.

Anyone can shoot. This project proves it. Learning Through the Lens is a photographic exploration education program for children. I teach photography to two fourth grade classes and over the last three years 130 nine and ten year olds have produced some pretty amazing work. This is some of their most amazing photographs. For any of you looking to buy a new camera, I'll answer a question a friend asked recently: "What is the difference between the Rebel T3 and the Rebel T3i?" The Rebel T3 is a stripped down version of the T3i, which actually ends up having less features than the T2i. The T3i has more megapixels (not completely necessary if you already have 12, unless you're doing lots of fine art), shoots at a higher frame rate (slightly faster motor drive), and goes up higher in the ISO (for very low light situations. So if you want a newer camera, with the swivel screen, better noise reduction, go for the T3 or T3i. If you just want something to learn on go with the T2i - it's still a GREAT camera that does crisp HD video. You'll be happy with any of these great cameras.

I took my wife and her sisters out to Antelope Island State Park in the Great Salt Lake to take some pictures. The first group of photos were taken at the break of dawn on a field just before entering the causeway -- that's Antelope Island in the background. The next set of photos are on a beach on the island, just after sunrise. We had a great time and please enjoy!

I used a single Canon 580ex flash on a stand with an umbrella remotely connected to my Canon 7d with either a 135mm f2.0 L Series or my 24mm f3.5 L Tilt-shift.
